I’ve made a habit of coming to the Hills on Memorial Day. A bit of reflection and gratitude. This flat rock is tucked away off the regular, busy trails. You can see downtown in the distance – about 6 miles as the crow flies. I’m always amazed at how green it is. Between here and there are Milton, Dorchester, and South Boston. Yet you see very little of ’em. Thank You, city planners, for keeping the building heights low and the tree density high.
Got up at 5:20am, brewed some coffee to have at the sit, and pedaled out. Cloudy day so no sunrise, but I was rewarded with quiet, cools temps, no wind or bugs – Beauty ๐

What a Beauty! Biking into work and passing by the Eustis House on the edge of the Blue Hills, I had to capture this one. This moment right here makes it all worth it ๐

This is the afternoon ride home from the sunrise pic above. Snow + rain during the day made for a wet ride. Also had to take the long way around because of a down power line on the regular route. Not windy and not too cold so it was quite pleasant.

Saturday morning snow squall in the Blue Hills @ Ponkapong. Out for a run with the spikes on. It’s been cold and COLD some more in the Northeast this winter so the ice is safe to run across. Not a clear pic but saw a small group out there ice fishing. All of this reminds me of my 80s youth where you could skate all winter on the local ponds.
